This article discuss the Baffin Consultation Service of the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry in Toronto. Operating since 1971, a team of staff psychiatrists & senior residents visit Baffin Island about 8 times a year to provide community-based mental health consultation services. This article also discusses the common psychiatric problems found among the Inuit population, & treatment approaches. It notes that the suicide rate in the North is 3-5 times higher than the national average.
