This annual report reviews the operations of the Hong Kong Samaritan Befrienders. A comprehensive analysis of suicides during 1994 is also provided. In 1994, there were 750 suicide deaths in Hong Kong, an increase of 141 compared to 1993. The suicide rate was 12.37 per 100,000 population. Suicide rates increased in all age groups. The high rate (43.78) among the elderly, age 70+, remains a concern. 59.6% of victims committed suicide by jumping from a high place. The text is in English & Chinese.
