This article discusses the 2-part WHO/EURO Multicentre Study on Parasuicide. It provides history, organization, & objectives of the project; outlines the project steering group; discusses methodology, case-finding criteria, ownership of data, the publication group, & the definition of parasuicide along with 4 views on distinctions between parasuicide & attempted suicide. The results of Part I of the study were released in 1994. This article introduces Part II – The Repetition-Prediction Study.
