This article reports on a study of the presence of suicide prevention & crisis centres in 1985 & their impact on Canadian suicide rates (1985-1991). During the period, suicides decreased in Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, & the Yukon. Findings indicated that the more crisis services present in a province, the more likely the suicide rate was to decrease. It is noted, however, that none of the correlations reached statistical significance. Studies undertaken in England & the USA are noted.
