This chapter reviews treatment literature & definitions of “integration.” It presents theoretical perspectives & technical issues regarding an integrative approach to the treatment of suicidal adolescents & their families. Dynamics of the “insolvable problem” & rate-of-development issues are often central. A treatment model is presented which integrates family systems, developmental, & psychodynamic theoretical perspectives in a technical combination of individual & family modalities. (44 Refs.)
