Data on adolescent suicide is provided in this introductory chapter to underline the magnitude of the problem. The difficulties, frustrations, experiences, & challenges facing clinicians engaged in treatment of suicidal adolescents are examined. Thoughts on what constitutes successful treatment are suggested.
