The hypotheses that there is a strong relationship between suicidal behaviour & homosexuality in adolescence & that this relationship is due to stigmatization & social isolation are tested. Psychological autopsies were used to study 120 of 170 consecutive suicides under age 20 & 147 community matched controls. 3 teenagers & no controls met study criteria. Circumstances of the deaths were examined & are described. This study did not find evidence to support either of the hypotheses. (17 refs.)
