Abstract
Life After the Death of a Child: Initial and Long Term Support From Others
Brabant S~~Forsyth C~~et al
This article presents research on the source & continuity of support received by bereaved parents within 4 contexts: family, friends, co-workers, & clergy. Data were obtained from a 1990-91 study on the social impact of the death of a child, & included 14 interviews with parents. Responses indicate that lack of support from expected sources, (family, friends, & clergy) constitutes aftershocks that result in pain, anger, & social isolation. Implications for grief counselling are discussed.
