A method of short-term therapy (brief or single-session) is described based on Winnicott’s (1971) concept of the therapeutic consultation. The therapist works to identify the time when the client’s life was going well & the time when things changed. The goal is to help the client reach back to what was good & bring this to the present. The structure & the process of conducting the therapy are discussed. A case study of an 18-year-old female who had attempted suicide is presented as illustration.
