A key factor influencing relapse in patients with chronic psychoses, mainly schizophrenia, is compliance with treatment. Compliance is primarily related to drug therapy, but in a broader perspective it also relates to the circumstances in which treatment is offered. An analysis of 3 cohorts in Copenhagen showed that community-based care possessed some of the necessary factors to improve treatment outcomes. However, suicidality & social isolation are important areas that need further attention.
