This Letter to Editor in response to an article on end-of-life management notes that while it succinctly evaluated patient/physician values & perspectives, those of the family & society were not well articulated. The issue of healthcare outcomes for patients with ‘similar’ illnesses who receive care from providers with ‘dissimilar’ ethical approaches is also discussed. In reply, the authors emphasized their belief in the primacy of an individualized, patient-centered approach.
