This article reports on a 1993 survey of medical practitioners in New South Wales & the Australian Capital Territory about active voluntary euthanasia (AVE) & physician-assisted suicide (PAS). Survey response rate was 76.1%. Almost half the practitioners had been asked to perform euthanasia, of whom 28% had complied. 7% had assissted with Suicide. The high levels of support for, & practice of, AVE & PAS suggests the current legislation should be reviewed. (23 Refs.)
