This letter touches on the question of public personalities & media attention & notes that further to Kurt Cobain’s suicide, there does not appear to have been an increase inimitative suicides. It also outlines efforts in the USA to come up with nomenclature that is useful, valid, & reliable in distinguishing suicidal behaviors & meets the needs of clinicians & researchers. Cases from personal practice are provided to underline issues of possible therapist malpractice & chronic hospitalization.
