After an overview of the epidemiology of suicide among the terminally ill, the clinical assessment & management of suicidal terminally ill patients is discussed, with an emphasis on how assessment & management of these patients differs from the strategies used to evaluate & treat other suicidal individuals. The methodological issues inherent in studying this subject are also pointed out. (46 refs.)
