In this study, cohort analysis was based on data obtained from the Danish Cause-of Death statistics on suicide from 1922-1991. Although some differences could be found as to the course of events during the life span of the cohorts & also when the data was adjusted for gender, no significant differences could be found between various birth cohorts in the total rate of suicide. The authors argue that the reason for this is that the effects of 3 variables – age, period, cohort – change over time.
