This brief article is based on an interview with Sue Rodriguez, 42, who was trying to gain the legal right to have someone assist her in her suicide. Rodriguez had Lou Gehrig’s disease. This interview was done in 1992 just after the British Columbia Court of Appeal ruled against her application to have physician-assisted suicide legalized. Rodriguez stated that her resolve never faltered because she felt that what she was trying to accomplish was too important.
