The author discusses the challenges & opportunities in suicide prevention in India. Among the challenges are problems with communications, volunteerism (a new concept in India), rapidly changing family structures, fundraising, & the lack of adequate mental health services. These difficulties & restraints have led to innovation, e.g. camps on suicide risk & prevention, working with hospital authorities to increase their suicide awareness & establishing good working relations with the police.
