Lester (1987) found that the suicide rates of black residents in the USA were higher in states where there are fewer black citizens. The present study sought to explore whether this phenomenon extends to Native Americans. The data are for the 48 continental states in 1980. It was found that for Native Americans, suicide rates are higher in states where there is a higher percentage of Native Americans. (3 refs.)
