This article reports on a 1992 comprehensive health status & risk behavior survey of adolescents involving 15,549 participants, Grades 7-12, throughout British Columbia. In the 12 months preceding the survey, 16% reported suicide ideation, 14% developed a plan, & of the 7% who attempted suicide, 2% required medical attention. A chart displays student attributes positively correlated with suicidal ideation. Noteworthy rates: low self-esteem, emotional distress, & history of abuse.
