To explore the association between bipolar symptoms & suicidal preoccupation in a nonclinical sample, a scale for measuring manic & depressive-like experience was given to 92 college students. Findings indicate that prior suicidal preoccupation was associated with depressive-like responses rather than manic-like responses in this sample. (2 refs.)
