The psychometric characteristics of the Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire (SIQ) were examined in a large sample of adolescents. Significant gender differences were found, with girls demonstrating higher levels of suicidal ideation. Hispanic youth demonstrated significantly higher scores than white or African American subjects on the SIQ & SIQ-JR. Internal concistency reliability estimates of the SIQ were high for the total sample & for boys & girls.
