In this report, the findings of an ongoing study of depressed inpatients’ day-to-day experience of being hospitalized are summarized. The incidence, duration & level of suicidal ideation in these patients is described, then factors which could influence the incidence & level of ideation are discussed. As expected, suicidal ideation was found to be linked to the level of various affects. As affect became more intense, the level of ideation increased.
