It is hypothesized that a correlation exists between suicide attempters & the personality traits assessed through the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The sample consisted of 118 subjects, ages 9-20, hospitalized because of a suicide attempt & 125 subjects who had not attempted suicide. Results suggest that some of the traits measured by Myers-Briggs are similar to some of the characteristics associated with suicide attempters. Attempters scored higher than controls in Sensing & Perception.
