Use of Antidepressants and Suicide Prevention: Examples From Sweden

The relation between suicides-parasuicides & the use of medicines in the Swedish county of Jamtland was studied. Using various sources of information, the authors analyzed the medicines prescribed to 1) persons who later committed suicide; 2) medicines used for parasuicide; & 3) the presence of antidepressant substances in national forensic toxicological screenings. Results of this study are presented.
