Veire says that there are 3 steps in suicide prevention: 1) providing education in the areas of myths & facts, warning signs, listening & helping skills, & the referral process; 2) enhancing the efforts of suicide prevention in the schools; & 3) all individuals knowing the resources that are available to them. The last part of this presentation reviewed prevention programs that have been successful (information on the individual programs is not provided in the proceeding).
