The authors discuss the need for a school system to have an organized, structured crisis plan & a properly trained crisis team to help a school return to a state of normalcy after a traumatic event. Information is provided on what components a crisis plan should contain, e.g. a method to assemble the team; what logistical issues need to be considered, e.g. the location of a communications center; who should be a member of the crisis team; & the role & desired characteristics of debriefers.
