This Editorial notes that minimising the impact & managing the psychological aftermath of repeated severe traumatic stress are matters of concern to the military & civilians. It describes circumstances of providing psychiatric support to British servicemen serving with the United Nations in Bosnia & notes the conflict provides an opportunity to study the natural course of post-traumatic stress related symptoms & assess the efficacy of measures designed to reduce psychological morbidity.
