This article describes the challenges to Canadian psychology found in the Northwest Territories (NWT) where suicide rates are among the hightest in the world. The author travelled to Yellowknife, Iqaluit, Pangnirtung, & Rankin Inlet; spoke with taxi drivers, teenagers, elders, elected officials & crisis centre volunteers. Although the problems & apparent pain were overwhelming & likened to the tip of an iceberg, many people believe healing is possible. Stories are interspersed with observations.
