Although euthanasia remains a criminal offense in The Netherlands, doctors conforming to narrow guidelines are unlikely to be prosecuted. However, doctors may be sued by patients revived against their wishes. Specific cases are cited. Analogies suggest a negligence claim for failure to deliver euthanasia would be logically sustainable.
