This letter to the editor by D. Conroy and reply from D. Clark involves Clark’s article, “Narcissistic Crises of Aging and Suicidal Despair”. Conroy writes the original letter in regards to the problems with Clark’s thesis (Conroy claims the thesis is based on the belief elderly suicides are inferior in character). The reply from Clark is a sharp criticism of of the issues Conroy has concern with. Clark is specifically troubled by the unreasonable substitution of Conroy’s words for his own.
