Alzheimer’s disease is on the cutting edge of the national and international debate over physician assisted suicide. In this article the author looks at various aspects of this debate, including: the impact of Dr. Kevorkian and the Hemlock society (including a brief reference to the book “Final Exit”), legal aspects involved in the debate, attitudes of the elderly, and dementia as a moral factor.
