The present study was designed to explore whether tedium was related to depression & suicidal preoccupation. A questionnaire was administered to 127 college students. Tedium scores were significantly associated with depression inventory scores, scores on the current suicidal ideation item of the inventory & a history of suicidal ideation, threats, & attempts. A measure of tedium was associated with depression, & independently of depression, with current suicidal preoccupation. (2 refs.)
