72 chemical abuse patients who either met criteria for panic disorder, experienced infrequent panic attacks or did not experience panic attacks in the past year were compared. Panic disorder subjects were more likely to be female & to have attempted suicide. Patients who attempted suicide, when compared to non-attempters, were more likely to be classifed as having panic disorder, & be non-married. Those who had infrequent attacks or none at all did not differ on any of the relevant variables.
