Distributions of 126 farm suicides during 1980-89 were examined by several demographic variables. Potential associations between 10 economic indicators & the incidence of farm suicide were investigated. After adjusting for age & under-reporting, the farm suicide rate was estimated to be 7.2/100,000/year. Highest rates were observed among elderly farm owner-operators. Regression analysis did not find any associations between the economic indicators & farm suicide rates. (23 refs.)
