A review of research on the blood types of those with psychiatric disorder indicated an association of manic-depressive disorder with type O. Suicide is more common in those diagnosed as having an affective disorder than these with other psychiatric diagnoses. The authors conclude only weak support exists for the predicted association between type O blood and suicide. (5 refs.)
