Combining Quantitative and Qualitative Methods in Evaluating a Course of Family Therapy

The processes & outcomes of a 6-session course of family therapy, integrating quantitative & qualitative approaches, are described. The family members were a 22-year-old male with depression & suicidal ideation, & his parents. The Beck Depression Inventory, the Personal Questionnaire & a scale of client satisfaction served as outcome measures. At the end of the therapy, the family showed improvement & expressed satisfaction with the therapy. (42 refs.)
