This study shows that the social correlates of suicide rates in the USA & Taiwan are quite different, & that Durkheim’s theory of suicide does not appear to be valid in Taiwan. By contrast, homicide rates in both nations do share some common social correlates, including divorce rates & crime rates. (5 refs.)
