The issue of suicide contracts made between therapists and their suicidal patients is discussed. The author states a concern based on the one suicidal patient in 20 who develops insistent suicidal impulses. Their argument is based on the belief that many patients in acute suicidal crisis do not have the capacity to resist the internal logic and the pain relief offered by the solution of suicide.
