This article reviews the current epidemiological research in adolescent suicide & suggests how this knowledge could be used more effectively to reduce the rate of adolescent suicide. Recommendations include support for integrated primary prevention efforts; suicide prevention education for professionals; education & policies on firearm management; education for the media; more efficient identification & treatment of at-risk youth; crisis intervention; & treatment for suicide attempters.(111refs)
