Platt et al (1992) estimated rates of attempted suicide in 15 cities in 12 European nations, using similar procedures for each city. The present study compared the rates of attempted suicide reported with official rates for completed suicide for these 12 nations in 1988. Statistical analysis indicated that the estimated rates of attempted suicide may have some validity. (2 refs.)
