Suicide and Attempted Suicide Reported by General Practitioners in Belgium, 1990-1991

In 1990-91 the Belgian sentinel network of general practitioners recorded suicide and suicide attempters within their practices. Suicide rates are noted for completed and attempted suicides; also, methods used, sex and age differences were noted. About 60% of both committers and attempters visited their general practitioner within a period of one month preceding the attempt. (14 refs.)
