Recent survey research on adolescent females indicate that the young woman of the 90’s is afflicted with serious problems because of her gender. Data from Wisconsin & Minnesota suggest that depression, suicide, physical & sexual abuse, body image, unprotected intercourse & relationship problems weigh heavily on the lives of young women. This paper reflects on the causes of these problems & offers novel approaches for improving the lives of young women. (18 refs.)
