This article deals with the issue of defining suicide. The author attempts to prove that the term suicide can and should include all acts that involve actions where a person places themself in a perilous situation, the result of which is likely to be death. Included with this the author adds the caveat that the person also must want to die. The author does this by using hypothetical examples along with case of Captain Oates. (7 refs.)
