This article looks at the definition of what types of self caused deaths constitute suicide. In so doing the author reviews: Durkheim’s and R.G. Frey’s theories of suicide; along with reviewing some of the more infamous suicides including: Socrates, Captain Oates, and Bobby Sands. The author also discusses the possibility of whether or not the death of Jesus can be considered a suicide. (29 refs.)
