This chapter reflects on the notion of suicide as a purely philosophical and ethical issue. In reviewing the issue of suicide the author reviews the following points in regards to suicide: the ethical question, history, St. Augustine as a turning point, and suicide today. In concluding the author argues that the defense of suicide must argue in favour of quality of life over quantity of life.
