This chapter reviews the effects that the bible has had on influencing opinions on suicide. The author believes that biblical studies are an important starting point for people who want to reflect on the impact of suicide. The author deals with the following issues: methods of interpretation, biblical definitions of suicide and a survey of 3 kinds of biblical text. (2 refs.)
