This study looks at the role monoamine levels, i.e. serotonin, play in suicidal behaviour. The findings, some of which are in contrast to what has usually been found, indicate that other aspects than diagnosis or suicide attempt method must be taken into consideration when performing amine metabolite studies: for example, other biochemical factors, impulsivity and overall lethality of method.
