This article is an analysis of secular trends in suicide and parasuicide and provides support for the hypothesis that true increase in these phenomena has occurred since the early 1950’s among the adolescent and young adult populations of Europe and North America, particularly in young men. Other factors look at are depression and first instance of parasuicide. (57 refs., statistics, tables and graphs)
