The historical, social, economic, political & environmental factors which have shaped the educational conditions in Indian communities are examined in this manuscript. Based on the contextual issues of Indian philosophy, role of the elders, government policy, socialization, requirements for cultural survival, & Indian control of Indian education, it puts forward a 7-step interactive model for educating preschoolers as an important part of a holistic approach to Indian community development.
