Yufit R I~~Bongar B
This chapter presents an overview of research literature, discusses adaptation to change, & presents a series of proposals as a nomothetic conceptual framework for adaptation to change. These proposals are based on many years of experience, & where pertinent, draw on psychological theory & relevant empirical research. The authors contend that an absence of the ability to cope with stressful life events & losses is an important factor in vulnerability to suicidal behaviour. (44 Refs.)
